HOUSE SYSTEM

Our present work may be great or small.
Yet, the important thing is to do it well.

The House system aims to give students an identity and sense of pride in a supportive, secure environment. The Houses provide for positive competition and a closer rapport between students and teachers. They also aim to help new staff and students adapt to the culture of Chinmaya Vidyalaya Unchahar

HOUSES

To instill in each student, a high level of confidence and determination, the Vidyalaya is committed to an open and supportive environment. Programs are designed to encourage student development and to foster leadership, service mentality, and creativity. The house system is an integral part of the school and helps to coordinate various activities in corporate life.

SELECTION OF HOUSE CAPTAINS:

The initiative and capabilities of individual students are continuously watched and those with inherent or cultivated leadership qualities are selected as Captain of each house.

The Vidyalaya children from Std.I onwards are grouped into 4 houses :

The charge of each house is vested in the hands of a group of teachers. House teachers of each house keep a close link with the children and their parents. Inter-House competitions are conducted to develop a spirit of healthy sportsmanship

Freedom:

Freedom is a condition in which people have the opportunity to speak, act and pursue happiness without unnecessary external restrictions. Freedom is important because it leads to enhanced expressions of creativity and original thought, increased productivity, and overall high quality of life. Freedom is a condition in which people have the opportunity to speak, act and pursue happiness without unnecessary external restrictions. Freedom is important because it leads to enhanced expressions of creativity and original thought, increased productivity, and overall high quality of life.

The lesson to draw ultimately from our set of incredible freedom fighters is that plans they drew up in their lives, they had the courage, the will, the strength, and the sheer guts, to execute them. And we must as well, in our lives.

Friendship:

Friendship, as understood here, is a distinctively personal relationship that is grounded in a concern on the part of each friend for the welfare of the other, for the other’s sake, and that involves some degree of intimacy. As such, friendship is undoubtedly central to our lives, in part because the special concern we have for our friends must have a place within a broader set of concerns, including moral concerns, and in part because our friends can help shape who we are as persons.

Friendship means familiar and liking of each other's minds. People who are friends talk to each other and spend time together. They trust one another and also help each other when they are in trouble or are hurt. Friends are people that can be looked up to and trusted. Usually friends have similar interests.

To instill the spirit of service and sacrifice, strength of character, discipline and comradeship, students are urged to participate actively in all House activities and carry out duties well.

HONESTY:

Honesty or truthfulness is a facet of moral character that connotes positive and virtuous attributes such as integrity, truthfulness, straightforwardness, including straightforwardness of conduct, along with the absence of lying, cheating, theft, etc. Honesty also involves being trustworthy, loyal, fair, and sincere

When you are honest, you speak the truth. More broadly, you present yourself in a genuine and sincere way, without pretense, and taking responsibility for your feelings and actions. You are a person of integrity — you are who you say you are — and you act consistently across the domains of your life rather than being one way in the community and a completely different way in your family. As a result, you believe you are being consistently true to yourself.

This strength involves accurately representing your internal states, intentions, and commitments, both publicly and privately. The strength of honesty is often linked to self-concordance- the extent to which your goals accurately represent your implicit interests and values. Honesty allows people to take responsibility for their feelings and behaviors, owning them, and reaping benefits by doing so.

Sincerity:

Sincerity is defined as being "real" inside and out. Since our actions and words reflect inner feelings, a healthy personality would require that the former is in sync with the latter. In other words, what one does or says must be in harmony with how one feels. A sincere person always allows his inner feelings to be mirrored in his interactions with the outside world.

A sincere individual value himself takes the tasks assigned seriously and seeks ways to execute his or her responsibilities with utmost diligence and perfection.

Sincere people are increasingly entrusted with greater responsibilities and are more likely to succeed in life. Employers are constantly on the search for sincere workers, and men and women often seek to find sincere companions to share their lives with. Teachers feel more motivated and encouraged by sincere learners, and people try to be sincere to their inner selves, which helps to avoid cognitive dissonance.

Regularly reinforcing, rewarding and celebrating sincerity in action (at home and at school), narrating stories about sincere people, discussing their successes and modelling sincerity are examples of ways to (re)teach this valuable quality to children. Displaying quotes such as "It is those who are true to themselves and others who overcome the challenges of life" at strategic locations at home and at school would also help
